Welcome to the Mariam Al-Batool Mosque in Malta
Why Religion is Important for Our Kids, Families, and Community
Religion is more than following traditions, it shapes how we live, treat others, and grow together as families and communities. Islam teaches us to love and respect everyone, to strengthen our bonds with family, and to welcome all people with open arms. This mosque, Mariam Al-Batool, is an important place where these values come to life.
The History Behind the Mosque
The Mariam Al-Batool Mosque is a beautiful symbol of faith and unity. It was built in Malta in the 1980s, with help from the Libyan government, and was designed by a Libyan architect, Mohammed Abid Elshukri. The mosque was constructed with Maltese limestone and features a stunning green dome and minaret that stands tall at 31.5 meters, making it one of the tallest buildings in the area. The mosque was a dream come true for Malta’s growing Muslim community, and it continues to serve as a peaceful place of worship and gathering.
Teaching Kids Kindness and Respect
For children, learning about Islam is a way to understand the world around them and learn values like kindness, respect, and honesty. Islam teaches them that no matter where someone is from, they should treat everyone with fairness and compassion. In Malta, where many people come from different backgrounds, this message is especially important. When children grow up learning these values, they are ready to be good, kind people who help others and make the world a better place.
Building Stronger Families Together
In Islam, family is at the heart of everything. Whether we are praying together, breaking our fast during Ramadan, or celebrating Eid, these moments bring us closer. The mosque is a place where families gather, learn, and grow in faith together. Through these traditions, children learn the importance of patience, gratitude, and love for one another. Islam teaches us to always support our families, to be there when times are hard, and to celebrate life’s joys together.
A Welcoming Community for Everyone
The mosque isn’t just a place to pray, it’s a place for everyone to come together, no matter their background. It’s a space where people can learn about Islam, celebrate different cultures, and support one another. Islam teaches us that we are all part of one big family, and we are all responsible for making sure that everyone feels respected and included. Just like the mosque was built to bring together Muslims in Malta, we strive to create a community where no one feels left out.
The Power of Faith in Everyday Life
At the end of the day, our faith teaches us that happiness comes from caring for one another and building a world where love and respect are shared by all. Islam isn’t just about prayers, it’s about living with compassion, lifting others up, and being there for each other, just like we do at the mosque.
