From trick-or-treating in local neighbourhoods to spectacular Halloween celebrations in Żabbar and Ta’ Qali, Malta came alive with family fun this Halloween weekend.

Halloween in Malta 2026 was about much more than spooky costumes, pumpkins and sweets. It was about children laughing, neighbours opening their doors, families exploring the island and communities coming together to create unforgettable memories.

From Friday, 30 October, through Sunday, 1 November, Halloween celebrations brought a special atmosphere to different localities across Malta and Gozo.

Little witches, superheroes, skeletons, princesses and ghosts took to the streets, while families enjoyed everything from traditional trick-or-treating to organised festivals, creative workshops and beautifully decorated neighbourhoods.

At Kids In Malta®, we love seeing moments like these. They remind us that some of the most meaningful childhood memories are created through simple experiences shared with others.

Trick-or-Treating Across Malta, Żabbar Halloween, Ta’ Qali Halloween Wonderland, Halloween in Schools, and One Island, Many Cultures.

One of the loveliest sights this Halloween was seeing children dressed in their favourite costumes, excitedly making their way through neighbourhoods with their families and friends.

Across different localities in Malta, residents welcomed young trick-or-treaters, with some going the extra mile to decorate their homes and create a magical Halloween atmosphere.

For children, the excitement was simple: dressing up, knocking on doors, collecting sweets and discovering what surprises awaited around the next corner.

But behind all the costumes and candy was something even more special.

Neighbours connected. Children spent time outdoors. Families shared an experience.

A special thank-you goes to everyone who decorated their homes, prepared treats and welcomed children into their neighbourhoods. These small gestures make a big difference and help create a stronger sense of community.

Żabbar Halloween 2026: A Celebration That Stood Out

One of the standout Halloween destinations in Malta this year was undoubtedly Żabbar, where Halloween celebrations brought an impressive programme of entertainment and creativity to the town.

The Żabbar Halloween Lantern Festival transformed the historic Biċċieni area into a world of spooky decorations, lanterns, costumed characters and family activities.

The programme featured a Halloween parade with a themed carnival float, dancers, music and characters making their way through the streets. Visitors could also explore spooky alley displays, enjoy live performances, participate in pumpkin carving and face painting, and experience traditional trick-or-treating.

Elsewhere in Żabbar, the Terrur Halloween Festival offered additional attractions, including haunted experiences for older visitors and entertainment for different age groups.

What makes Żabbar particularly interesting is the community spirit behind its celebrations.

The Halloween Lantern Festival began in 2019 as a local initiative to bring new life to the area. Over the years, it has developed into a recognised community event, involving residents, volunteers and organisers working together.

And that is exactly what makes events like this valuable.

It is not simply about organising a Halloween attraction. It is about creating something that brings people into a locality, encourages community participation and gives families a reason to spend time together.

Żabbar demonstrated how a local celebration can become something much bigger when people come together with creativity, commitment and a shared vision.

Ta’ Qali Halloween 2026: A Wonderland for Families

Ta’ Qali was another destination offering families a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the Halloween weekend.

The National Park hosted Autumn Fest, transforming the open space into an autumn and Halloween-themed family destination.

Children could enjoy amusement rides, games, colourful decorations, themed characters and mascots. A spooky maze added some Halloween excitement, while creative activities offered younger visitors opportunities to explore and play.

The event also featured an outdoor cinema, food and drink areas, and stalls showcasing local products, including Maltese honey, artisan cheeses and seasonal treats.

Live music and entertainment added to the festive atmosphere.

What made the Ta’ Qali celebration particularly appealing was the combination of outdoor activities, family entertainment and community experiences.

It offered families a chance to leave their everyday routines behind and spend quality time together in one of Malta’s best-known public parks.

Events like these show how valuable our outdoor spaces can be when they are brought to life through imagination, creativity and activities designed for families.

Halloween Celebrations Beyond Żabbar and Ta’ Qali

The Halloween spirit was certainly not limited to these two destinations.

Across Malta and Gozo, different communities and organisations created their own celebrations.

In Dingli, families had the opportunity to enjoy trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, crafts, face painting, games and children’s entertainment.

In Nadur, Gozo, families dressed up and gathered for an evening of Halloween activities, including pumpkin carving, magic shows, dancing and music.

Shopping centres and other venues also joined the celebrations. The Point in Sliema organised a Halloween weekend featuring children’s games, face painting, creative workshops and even a Little Monsters Rave with young DJs.

Each celebration offered something different, giving families choices depending on their children’s ages and interests.

And that variety is one of the things we love about family life in Malta.

Schools Joined the Halloween Fun Too!

Halloween celebrations were not limited to the weekend.

Some schools across Malta also embraced the occasion with costumes, themed classroom activities, storytelling, arts and crafts, and creative learning experiences.

For children, dressing up as their favourite character is more than just fun.

It encourages imagination, self-expression, creativity and confidence.

Whether children arrived as superheroes, friendly monsters or characters from their favourite books, the excitement of sharing the experience with classmates made the occasion even more memorable.

As an educator, I particularly appreciate opportunities that allow children to learn through play, storytelling and imagination.

After all, childhood should be filled with moments that inspire curiosity, laughter and creativity.

One Island, Many Nationalities, One Community

Perhaps the most beautiful part of Halloween in Malta is the diversity of families celebrating together.

Malta is home to people from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds. Some families grew up celebrating Halloween as an annual tradition, while others are discovering it for the first time.

And not every family celebrates Halloween, which is equally important to respect.

Yet events like these create opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet, interact and share experiences.

Children do not need to speak the same language or come from the same country to enjoy dressing up, playing together or laughing at a funny costume.

A shared smile needs no translation.

For international families raising children in Malta, community events can also create a greater sense of belonging.

They provide opportunities to make friends, discover new places and feel connected to the island they call home.

At Kids In Malta®, we believe that bringing people together is one of the most meaningful things a community platform can do.

Why Family Events Matter Beyond the Entertainment

It is easy to look at Halloween and see costumes, decorations and sweets.

But look a little closer.

You will see parents spending time with their children, grandparents joining the fun, neighbours talking to one another and children making new friends.

You will see local businesses supporting events, organisers investing time and effort, and volunteers helping create experiences for their communities.

These occasions encourage children to spend time away from screens, explore their surroundings and participate in social experiences.

They also help children develop a sense of belonging.

And while the decorations eventually come down and the costumes return to the wardrobe, the memories can stay with families for years.

A Thank-You From Kids In Malta®

Thank you to everyone who opened their doors to trick-or-treaters, decorated their homes, organised activities or simply made children smile.

At Kids In Malta®, our mission goes beyond sharing events and activities.
